Electronic Media

The electronic media option is designed to prepare students for careers in video/digital film production, regardless of whether the end product is distributed on television, film, corporate/educational media, or the internet. Led by Prof. Don Priest, winner of numerous national production awards, students in this option learn both the discipline and craft of production. Courses address both studio and field production and include hands-on experience in everything from audio to set design.

Facilities include a professional studio for multi-camera production and individual, Mac equipped edit bays for post-production. Field material is shot on MiniDV and HDV. The department also programs a local cable channel where much of the student work is shown. The students also operate their own production club, B# Video, that offers both paid and non-paid production opportunities.

Students in the program have won numerous national and local awards for projects ranging from news and documentaries, to music videos and dramas.

The department offers a very active internship program to help place students in both local and state-wide positions. Graduates from the program are working in commercial broadcasting operations, corporate production companies, educational institutions, and in commercial film.
